Microsoft held a developer conference in San Francisco this week (BUILD 2015) to talk about the companies plans for its future software (Windows 10) and some tech. One product last shown at January’s Windows 10 event was the HoloLens. The HoloLens is cable free fully augmented reality device and boy has it come a long way since it was last shown. The demonstration, above, takes us on a tour of what a Windows operating system looks like as real life …err.. windows! For all its wonders shown even if the device can only (virtually) produce a 100-inch display in which you can watch video and, hopefully, play games on I’m sure they’ll sell a Bill Gates size boat load. Naturally Microsoft have had a good track record of overselling its tech (anyone remember the Kinect 1 previews?) but I’ll remain quietly optimistic that this is the future.

HoloLens features its own GPU, a holographic processing unit (HPU) and comes fitted with numerous cameras, sensors and speakers (binaural for a full 3D audio sensation). No news on price or release date but anticipate more news at E3 next month.
