Making a horror with the Alone in the Dark director

Alone in the Dark is getting a reboot, modernising one of the OG survival horror games into a present-day adaptation.

Obviously, a lot goes into making any video game; getting its tone is paramount, and the horror genre is no exception. Thankfully, the upcoming Alone in the Dark is in safe hands with its creative director and writer, Mikael Hedberg who has previously worked on the likes of Amnesia and SOMA.

Alone in the Dark aims to give something familiar to old players and on the other hand something fresh to new players.

In the latest trailer released for Alone in the Dark, we hear the creative process from the mind of Mikael Hedberg. “We want to keep what’s there,” he said. Mikael continued to talk about working with the game’s two protagonists, Jodie Comer and David Harbour, adding “They are fantastic.”

Recently, Alone in the Dark was delayed by several months to avoid the packed release schedule in the month of October. Now, Alone in the Dark will be released on 16 January 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
