Man of Medan Returns With a Brand New Dev Diary

Just like all horror games, The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan was initially an incredibly mysterious and intriguing title. However, in a true Bandai Namco fashion, this façade has been completely dismantled, as the publisher behind the title has released, is releasing, and will likely continue to release, promotional materials which lift the veil of the game just a little too much. And unfortunately those materials come thick and fast, as the publisher in question has released yet another promotional video for the unreleased horror series.

The clip in question is titled The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan – Dev Diary #1 Part 1, and as you might have already guessed, it provides one with a talk-through of the certain in-development aspect of the game in question. And if you are really looking forward to playing The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan, then you should probably stop reading now, as this particular promotional material can ruin the sense of place and discovery which the game will be able to otherwise provide.

 

Within the two and a half minute long video, one of the developers discusses the thought process behind the general design of the vessel, within which the title will be taking place, and all the design choices which have been applied in order to turn the transatlantic commercial ship, into a true to genre horror set.

Some of the additions mentioned by the narrator feature minor elements such as the use of rust and various substances, and major such as holes in the hull and the deck of the ship, which are meant to work as skylights.  And yes, Lee Robinson (Production Designer) and Barney Pratt (Audio Director), discuss much more within the above described clip, but some things are better to be left untold, as the more you learn about The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan, the less exciting it is going to be, once you get to play it.
