Marvel vs Capcom Infinite release date, story trailer and Collector’s Edition includes Infinity Stones!

Capcom has given us an abundance of new information for the forthcoming and 4th entry in the Marvel vs. Capcom series for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.  We have a confirmed release date, new roster additions, a new story trailer, information on the big bad guy and various special editions which includes an awesome Collector’s Edition that features four dioramas and six Infinity Stone replicas!

First up Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will release for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from September 19th.  In addition, the 4th entry in the long-running series will have a proper cinematic Story Mode, rather than just your generic Arcade modes that feature in 1-on-1 (or 2-on-2 in MvC’s case).  You can get a taste of what to expect with the story mode in the brand new trailer below.

During the trailer, we learn that the main bad buy will be Ultron Sigma, a fusion of Ultron from the Marvel Universe and Sigma, the antagonist from Mega Man X.  Ultra Sigma is hell-bent of infecting all organic life with a cybernetic virus and that includes us humans that populate planet Earth!

We have also learned some new members of the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite roster and they include; Ultron, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, Rocket Raccoon, Chun-Li, Hiryu from Strider and Chris Redfield.  They will be joining the previously announced characters; Captain America, Captain Marvel, Ryu, Mega Man X, Iron Man and Morrigan.  With the use of the in-game Infinity Stones, you’ll also be able to customise your favourite characters powers, abilities and more.

Joining the Cinematic Story Mode, we’ll be getting the old faithful Arcade, Training and Mission modes, as well as a variety of multiplayer modes, both locally and online.  You can also check out a batch of new screenshots below.

Additionally, available at launch will be various editions for you to pick-up.  By pre-ordering any edition (including the standard), you will be gifted with the Warrior Thor and Evil Ryu costumes (images below).

The Deluxe Edition (RRP $89.99) will not only include the Warrior Thor and Evil Ryu costumes (if you pre-order), but also the Character Pass aka season pass, which gives you access to six characters which includes Sigma from Mega Man X.  The Deluxe Edition will also include additional Gladiator Hulk and Mega Man Command Mission X costumes (images also seen below) as well as a collectible SteelBook.

Finally, the awesome Collector’s Edition will not only include the Deluxe Edition and all aforementioned costumes and SteelBook, but also four premium character dioramas created by TriForce.  The dioramas include Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Mega Man X and Chun-Li, and arguably best of all, it includes a special case that contains SIX LED powered Infinity Stones!  The Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Collector’s Edition will have an RRP of $199.99; I’ll update this article with UK prices when I get them.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will release for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 17th.
