Bioware have recently announced today that the Mass Effect 3 DLC entitled Extended Cut will be released worldwide on Xbox 360 and PC on June 26th. Playstation 3 owners will receive the DLC in North America on June 26th also however the rest of the world will have to wait until July 4th.

The good news is that the DLC will be free and will hopefully resolve the ending of the game in a more satisfactory way. The new DLC supposedly does this with additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes. Check back here on Push-Start for our opinion on the new ending when it is released.

Should Bioware though have given in to the pressure from the fans? Personally I don’t think they should have, yes the ending to Mass Effect 3 is poor to say the least but Bioware really should have stuck to their views. The big problem with this situation though, is that other game companies could face the consequences of this decision. For example say that Bioshock: Infinite had a disappointing ending, fans of the game will pressure Irrational games to change it and when they say no, the fans will simply refer back to Bioware’s decision, meaning that Irrational games might have to change it to keep their reputation high.

What do you think of Bioware’s decision to change the ending? Let us know in the comments below.
