Deep Silver and Epic Games has announced that the forthcoming Metro Exodus has left the Steam Store and now will be exclusive on the Epic Games Store for PC.  Quite interestingly, Epic offers the developers/publishers a higher percentage of the revenue, which is 70% on Steam, but is 88% on Epic.  So Epic Games Tom Sweeney has said those savings will be passed on to the customers when purchasing Metro Exodus on the Epic Games Store.

Initially the standard edition on Steam was $59.99 and $74.99 for the Gold Edition.  On the Epic Games Store those prices will drop to $49.99 and $59.99.  However, this price saving is exclusive to the US for some reason and does not extend to the UK, which is a little frustrating, with the standard edition being £49.99 and the Gold Edition £69.99!

Those that have pre-ordered Metro Exodus on Steam will still have their pre-orders honoured, as well as the pre-order bonuses, which includes the original soundtrack and a digital art book.  The exclusive Epic Games Store deal is said to run until 2020.  Deep Silver has also revealed that Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux will also be coming to the Epic Games Store later this year.

This is not the first time that the Steam Store has lost titles exclusively to Epic Games and it will no doubt be the last.  Recently Steam has also lost The Division 2 and The Walking Dead: Final Season.  We’ve not heard any comment from Valve until now, who have posted a statement on the Metro Exodus Steam page.  Valve has stated that this deal is “unfair to Steam customers” and have apologised for Epic games snatching another exclusive deal from under their noses.  You can read the statement in full below:

Sales of Metro Exodus have been discontinued on Steam due to a publisher decision to make the game exclusive to another PC store.

The developer and publisher have assured us that all prior sales of the game on Steam will be fulfilled on Steam, and Steam owners will be able to access the game and any future updates or DLC through Steam.

We think the decision to remove the game is unfair to Steam customers, especially after a long pre-sale period. We apologize to Steam customers that were expecting it to be available for sale through the February 15th release date, but we were only recently informed of the decision and given limited time to let everyone know.

Finally, Deep Silver and 4A Games has also released the PC specifications, which can be found below.  Metro Exodus will release for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 15th.
