Update: Well it appears that there were truths to the rumours following the images that were leaked for Metro Redux, as a statement has been released by Deep Silver to address these rumours.  In the statement Deep Silver not only confirm that Metro Redux is a real thing and it will be coming to the PC, PS4 and Xbox One, they also made it clear that their intentions to release the Metro series to the new generation of consoles has never been a secret, but they won’t be making any other official announcements this side of E3.

Below is the statement released by Deep Silver that was emailed to Push-Start.co.uk:

A short letter to the Metro fans – past; present; and future…

Metro Redux. You may have heard of it… even though you probably shouldn’t have!

We could issue a ‘We do not comment on rumour and speculation’ statement and pretend this never happened. They’re pretty boring to read. They’re also pretty boring to write.

So we’re going to comment on rumour and speculation instead.

Is Metro Redux real?

Yes. We never made any secret of 4A’s desire to bring Metro to the latest generation of console hardware.

But what you saw leaked was taken from an old, internal planning presentation, containing some nuggets of truth but a lot of hypothetical ideas and place holder material.

(Eagle eyed fans will recognize the artwork on the ‘packshot’ as the art from the original Russian edition of the Metro 2033 novel. And that ‘logo’ is just the old Metro 2033 logo with the ‘2033’ scrubbed out and ‘Redux’ added… )

As you can see, we’re not quite ready to reveal 4A Games’ first next-gen console project, but we will be making an announcement this side of E3.

And we think the reality is a lot more exciting than the out-dated material that got leaked shows, and we’re itching to share it with you. Just not yet.

Original Story: According to the Italian website Everyeye.it (which has since been removed), thanks to AGB images have leaked that indicate that a Metro games collection will be coming to the PS4, Xbox One and PC.  Ever since the release of Metro Last Light on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, it has been heavily rumoured that a new gen instalment may very well be on the cards.  So with this latest news, its ads further fuel to the fire.

The collection is believed to be called Metro Redux and it would include enhanced versions of Metro 2033, Metro Last Light with all its released DLC.  It would also include a soundtrack, art cards and limited edition packaging.  According to the images found below, Metro Redux is expected to release this coming July.  I’ve sent an email to Deep Silver to see if I can find some clarification on these rumours and if I hear more, I’ll update you right here.
