You may remember an article that we published not too long ago that featured some screenshots that looked like they were taken directly from a magazine.  It was fair to say that they were poor quality, but I was hopeful that Konami would soon release some quality official screenshots.  Well thankfully Konami have now released the official screenshots and they look as lush as you would expect.

The images are taken from the PS4 version of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and feature screenshots from the Playstation exclusive Déjà Vu mission and of course the legendary Psycho Mantis.

As you very well may know, Ground Zeroes is the prologue to The Phantom Pain and there have been concerns lately over the campaign length of Ground Zeroes, but that’s looking not to be an issue for The Phantom Pain.

When speaking to IGN, Hideo Kojima voiced concerns that “players will start complaining that they can’t clear the game”, because it’s “too big to clear.”  I don’t know about you, but that comes across as quite presumptions and doesn’t show a lot of faith in his audience.  I for one will not see that as an issue and the size of The Phantom Pain which is said to be “more than 200x bigger the Ground Zeroes” excites me and I know I’m not alone on that statement.

When speaking about Ground Zeroes and the concerns that some have over its potentially short campaign length Kojima stated “It’s not about clearing the story, it’s not about clearing the mission,” and he went on to say “It’s about discovering new elements, new routes, new ways to play.”  Which to be honest, this was my initial approach to Ground Zeroes and I am very much looking forward to finishing it multiple times and enjoying the various side quests that will be available in the game.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is expected to release in 2015, but as it stands The Phantom Pain is scheduled for release on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, with no plans of a PC release.  But there may be hope for PC gamers yet, as when speaking to GameSpot, Kojima said “PC, that’s my original background. I originally created PC games” and he added “A long time ago I didn’t want to rely on platforms to release games, so if people want it, I cannot make a formal announcement, but that is definitely something that I would like to do.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will release for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on March 18th in North America and the 20th across Europe and in Japan.  Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is expected for release sometime during 2015.
