Mortal Kombat 11 Gameplay Reveal, Story Trailer, Fatalities and Rhonda Rousey!

Two events took place yesterday simultaneously in the UK and the US to reveal a whole lot of goodness for Mortal Kombat 11.  We got a proper gameplay reveal, a story cinematic that shows a new and evil Raiden, loads of fatalities, detailed character customisation, Rhonda Rousey as the voice of Sonya Blade, a quite nifty Kollector’s Edition was also revealed and much more, so let’s get into all the juicy details.

Firstly let’s begin with the gameplay reveal that showcased series favourite characters, as well as some newcomers too.  Mortal Kombat X was a fantastic game, it looked and played great, but Mortal Kombat 11 looks to even top that!  In the gameplay reveal trailer, we see favourites Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Sonya Blade, Raiden, Baraka and Skarlet (who we last saw in MK9).

We also see a brand new character in action with Geras, who can bend time and physics at his gruesome bidding.  Geras is also the loyal servant of the new powerful character known as Kronika, who is the “keeper of time and creator of existence”, and it just so happens, that evil Raiden’s antics have gotten all the wrong kinds of attention.  Along with the gameplay reveal trailer below, I’ll also include gameplay for Geras and a wonderful Fatality montage.

Next up with have a cinematic story trailer that shows evil Raiden’s antics since we last left him following the conclusion of Mortal Kombat X and this is not the Raiden we’ve known for all these years.  It certainly makes for an intriguing dynamic, now that it becomes clear that he has pissed off the powerful Kronika.

Following all the rumours leading up to the reveal, it was officially announced that Olympic medallist, former UFC champion and now WWE Superstar, Rhonda Rousey is the voice of series veteran, Sonya Blade.  In the video below, we not only see some of Sonya Blade in action, but we also get to hear from Rhonda Rousey as she geeks out with excitement for her new role.

Two versions (other than standard) of Mortal Kombat 11 were announced with the Premium and Kollector’s Editions.  The Premium Edition which is available in both digital and physical form which includes the game, a steelbook case (for the physical version) and the Kombat Pack (which gives you early access to characters, skins and more).  The Premium Edition has an RRP of £79.99/$99.99 USD.

The Kollector’s Edition which is only available in physical form for PS4 and Xbox One, includes the base game, a steelbook case, the Kombat Pack, a commemorative magnet coin and an authenticity plate.  It will also include a Kool looking Scorpion Mask bust, all bundled in snazzy Kollector’s packaging.  However, as snazzy as this Kollector’s Edition is, it’s a whopping £279.99 and is exclusive to Game in the UK, so that rules me out sadly.  It is also exclusive to GameStop in North America.

No matter which version you pre-order, whether it is the standard or Kollector’s Edition, everyone that pre-orders will receive Shao Kahn as a playable character and will also gain beta access on March 28th for PS4 and Xbox One.  However, the beta will not be available for PC or Nintendo Switch.

Mortal Kombat 11 will release for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 23rd, and it will release for Nintendo Switch on May 10th.
