Just when you thought that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was the worst game of 2023, King Kong entered the battle arena.

Keep in mind that not only is The Lord of the Rings: Gollum one of the worst-reviewed games of all time but it was deemed so bad that developer Daedalic Entertainment stopped creating games and now only focuses on publishing.

At the time of writing, media reviews aren’t live for Skull Island: Rise of Kong aren’t live, likely because the publisher may or may want to keep opinions on this game lowkey. However, thanks to social media, word of mouth is spreading fast. Though there are some quite amusing “masterpiece” troll reviews on Metacritic right now.

Skull Island: Rise of Kong was announced in July this year and right from the get-go, it looked terrible, to say the least, and certainly not a game befitting of current consoles. Well, gameplay clips are making the rounds and boy does it look bad.

For example, take a look at the clip below which features what looks to be a rapture and during its “cut-scene” it uses what can only be described as a JPEG. I’m not kidding.

Above all else, the gameplay and visuals look beyond dated, it’s a wonder how this game was not only released in this state, but the publisher GameMill Entertainment

somehow managed to acquire this licence without due process (allegedly). Skull Island: Rise of Kong is developed by IguanaBee.

Skull Island: Rise of Kong is available now on modern platforms (apparently) and if you really hate someone, it would make an amazing gift.
