NBA 2K14’s Lead Designer Says That The Constant Control Changes Are Regrettable

Speaking on a recent Operations Sports Podcast, which was then transcribed by Kotaku. NBA 2K14’s lead designer, Mike Wang revealed that he regrets the constant set changes of the controls for every new NBA title.

The upcoming NBA 2K14 is to the be the third game in the series to have a completely new control system, which Mike Wang has said that’s its “Something [he] is a little embarrassed by.

Wang also explained that the new control system is the one the team wanted to ship with last years NBA 2K title.

“After an entire year of iteration and trying to solve the problems of putting two major mechanics on one stick without modifiers, it wasn’t ready [for NBA 2K13], so we took the plan B route. 14’s controls is what we really wanted it to be.”

NBA 2K14 slam dunks on to shelves on October 1st for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. With next-gen versions of the title launching along-side the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.
