NBA Playgrounds could be the true NBA Jam sequel we all deserve!

I’ve never been one for NBA, if you asked me to name three players, I’d struggle to mention anyone beyond Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal (mainly because of 90’s videogame Shaq-Fu) and more recently Lebron James.   But in the 1990’s there was a game called NBA Jam, I bought it from a friend for £15, which took up all my saved paper round money, but it was oh so worth it.

Since then I’ve been waiting another quality NBA Jam game and it’s been a very patient wait indeed.  I know we had NBA Jam on PS3 and Xbox 360 released in 2010, but for me at least, it didn’t quite hit the mark.  However, a new NBA game inspired by the likes of the Jam series has been announced and it could very well be the spiritual successor that we’ve been waiting for!

NBA Playgrounds is an arcade style 2-on-2 game that can be played with friends, online and on your lonesome.  Developed by Saber Interactive, NBA Playgrounds will release in digital form this coming May for $19.99 (probably £15.99 in the UK) on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

It will feature all 30 NBA teams with an “extensive roster of current and retired NBA payers” that can all be levelled-up and of course, they will all have big heads!  CEO at Saber Interactive; Matt Karch had this to say on NBA PlaygroundsBasketball is such a pick-up-and-play sport at heart – we really wanted to bring that spirit into gaming,”,  Karch added “NBA Playgrounds has a lot of depth for pros who’ve mastered their game, but it’s accessible enough that anyone can jump in, have fun and feel competitive.
