If there is some news that is always good news, it’s that more Batman Arkham games are coming our way. This joyous occasion is brought to us via an earnings call transcript which briefly states the following:

“And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise,”

So now that you’ve stopped humming the Batman theme tune, there is also some possibly not-so-good news. According to VG247, Rocksteady – the English studio responsible for the first two games in the franchise – will not be developing this title.

This hasn’t been confirmed by Warner yet, so it stays in the rumour pile for now. If it is true, I’m not sure if that would make me a happy camper.

Aside from the incredibly poor PC version of Arkham City (from a technical standpoint), Rocksteady have made two great games and built one of my favourite franchises of all time. I may be slightly biased in my love for the caped crusader, but a new developer could be a reason to worry about the quality of the ongoing titles.

However, I think Rocksteady have earned enough respect for us to trust them on this. As I said though, it’s not been confirmed yet. I am sure there will be plenty more rumour mongering, and hopefully some actual rock solid facts swinging our way soon.
