New Marvel MMO Trailer Released

It’s Marvel’s turn to jump on the MMO-shaped bandwagon this week with a trailer for its new brightly coloured online extravaganza, Marvel Heroes. Riding on the gargantuan success of that Iron Man movie (with some other guys also in it), developer Gazillion’s latest effort allows you to create your own super-cool customised version of one of the familiar freak-shows as you take on the quest to defeat the nefarious Doctor Doom (who, to be fair, is wielding a small box that lights up a bit).

It’s not immediately clear whether the gameplay will lean more towards the click-watch-wait processes of World of Warcraft or the real-time twitch system found in more recent title, Tera – I have a horrible and familiar feeling that it will be the former. The implementation of the online space is also not specified; I can’t help but think that the magic born from me (Iron Man) destroying bad guys in a red and yellow blur of explosive brilliance would be somewhat lost if eight other Iron Man iterations were doing exactly the same thing nearby.

Nevertheless, fighting as a radical incarnation of one of my childhood heroes  is a tantalising proposition, rendering this title conceptually (if perhaps not mechanically) one to watch.
