Painkiller Hell & Damnation to Release 31st October For PC

If you ever wondered what Quake would be with a storyline, or what Doom would be with an actual storyline – other than just go to Hell and get out again because guns, tits and explosions – then you’d end up somwhere in the midst of Painkiller. The original painkiller was a straight up shooter, nothing disguised, not trying to be anything it’s not. It simply wanted you to shoot whatever was on your screen regardless of whether it was a live or not – or you could take my approach which was shoot absolutely everything anyway and then presume it’s only not alive now because you killed it with your lightning shuriken gun.

Painkiller Hell & Damnation is a remake of the previous installments in the series and something I’ve had my eyes on like a hawk and a corpse. That being quite an apt analogy due to the fact that this could quite possibly kill the series in it’s tracks; following the Doom 3 side of things there I see. Okay, I know some people loved Doom 3 but honestly in my opinion you can get more scared by watching Margaret Thatcher’s sex tapes. Whether you think this game is going to work as a remake, or catastrophically annhialite the series like a bull in a China shop then that’s up to you; but it’s being released on Halloween which is a statement in itself. Though why you’d actually release a game on Halloween seems a bit past me considering half of your customer base will be face down in a gutter somewhere dressed up as an Orc from Lord of the Rings.
