If Path of Exile is not on your radar, you might want to sit up and take note. You might also want to get some wrist braces and an appointment with the doctor, for another dungeon crawling, RSI inducing click fest is upon us.

If you haven’t seen or heard of said game before, take a look at this.

I think you will agree it look rather spiffy (hardly ever get to use that word). If you are still spitting venom from the disappointment that was Auction House 3, sorry I mean Diablo 3, then this could be your answer. One of my biggest complaints with the aforementioned title was the leveling system, no points to assign to stats, no different builds other than the small collection of glyphs that mildly changed the spells.

If you want to see what an RPG’s skill tree should look like and how much choice it should offer, behold. That’s not to mention the expansive gems to adorn and modify your armour. Add to that six character classes and random environments for replayability and we could be on to a winner.

Not convinced? Well have a look at these class trailers. The mood of the witch trailer especially sets a great tone, so much so that I will most definitely be playing the open beta as soon as it becomes available to all on the 23rd of January. Oh and one more thing, it’s going to be free. But before you snort derisively and moan about free to play games, just take a look at this.

In order to fund the development and continued expansion of Path of Exile, we offer a range of ethical microtransactions that allow you to distinguish yourself in the world of Wraeclast without receiving any gameplay advantage. We are completely opposed to the concept of “pay2win”.

So I think you are all out of excuses, it sounds great and looks great, does it play great? The 23rd is only days away, we shall find out.
