The 12th of February is not far off now, but you have time enough to make a nice safe gaming corner in which you can scream like a five year old when Aliens: Colonial Marines comes out. As a huge AvP fan, I am really looking forward to this. I’m not totally without scepticism, but hopefully it will do enough to capture the atmosphere we are all expecting.

In the short run up to the release, Gearbox and SEGA have released the PC specs for the game, and Videogamer shared with the rest of us. A quick look below and you can see they aren’t asking for Skynet to be able to play. A low end quad core and a mid range 500 series Nvidia card isn’t asking too much. On the low end it’s even better news, so people planning to play on a laptop should be fairly comfortable.

Operating System: Windows XP SP3
Processor: 2 GHz Intel Dual Core Processor
RAM: 2GB RAM (XP),2GB RAM (Vista)
HD: 20GB free hard disk space
Optical Drive: DVD
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible
Video Card:NVIDIA GeForce 8500/ATI Radeon HD 2600 (256 minimum)

Recommended Specs:
Operating System: Windows XP SP3/Vista/Windows 7
Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Quad CoreProcessor
RAM: 2GB RAM. HD
20GB free hard disk space
Optical Drive: DVD
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX560/ATI Radeon HD 5850 (512 minimum)

Obviously there is always the drivers from AMD and Nvidia to consider, but given the lack of gaming power needed to play, I think we should be safe.

Those of you who have been looking at the specs and waiting to make a “Game over man!” comment, now is your time to shine. The rest of you, get ready for another beautiful day in the corps.
