Peter McConnell Returned To Score Tim Schafer’s New Game & Composing Garden Warfare
For those of you that don’t know, Peter McConnell is an award winning composer who has written some really interesting scores for games such as Brutal Legend and Psychonauts as well as several classic adventure game soundtracks for Lucas Arts including Grim Fandango and Monkey Island. Now he has returned to compose Broken Age, which is one of the most famous Kickstarter projects.”I’ve worked with Peter for twenty years now, and have loved every soundtrack he’s created, but I have to say that this could possibly be my favorite,” said Tim Schafer. “There are several points in this score that make the hair stand up on my neck. Also the hair on my back. And those weird little patches of hair on my upper arms that look like sheriff badges. Anyway, it’s an amazing soundtrack.“
The soundtrack has been composed by the help of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and small ensemble performances recorded with wind and string instruments. Peter has made use of his expertise in classical film scoring style, to meld together a variety of different soundscapes that are rich in melody and texture. Those that are interested in listening to the full soundtrack, will be happy to know that it will be made available for purchase on January 28th, alongside the release of the game. The game, Broken Age follows the journey of two complete strangers who break out of their tedious everyday lives, and venture out in search of more. The game is composed by Peter McConnell and features an all star voice-over cast, including the likes of Elijah Wood, Jennifer Hale and Jack Black. Furthermore, fans would also be interested in knowing that Peter, is in fact composing the upcoming shooter hparody, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare.
