Despite rumours of any multiplayer in the hugely sought after Batman: Arkham City being quashed, new details has now immerged that the Dark Knight himself will not be the only playable character in the sequel to the amazing Arkham Asylum.

Developer Rocksteady is going to allow gamers to show Halle Berry how it’s really done by making Catwoman a playable character in Arkham City. Now before you all think that this will be nothing more than a cheap character model swap; Catwoman has her own moves, her own storyline that intertwines with Batman’s, and even a different method of travelling through the streets and rooftops of Gotham City. As expected, Catwoman will rely on her trusty whip as a weapon to use against foes, as well as a way of getting through Gotham, amongst other bits of weaponry to get the drop on enemies.

Players will be required to play as both leather-clad adversaries to get through the main campaign of the game, with Catwoman as the playable character for approximately 10% of it.

As she comes with her own missions, and considering that she is not a brute like Batman, you can expect missions that have a very clear focus on stealth, whilst taking advantage of her special vision power: ‘Thief Vision’. Although similar to Batman’s ‘Detective Mode’, players can use this ability to highlight items that need to be burgled as part of the main mission objective.

It is also understood that Catwoman will also be available as a playable character in certain DLC challenges.

Assumingly, more details and footage on Arkham City will emerge at E3, which is only days away.

Batman: Arkham City will hit retail shelves in Europe on October 21st.
