Known for their Xbox exclusive Forza Horizon series, developers Playground Games are about to venture somewhat into the unknown by developing a new open-world action RPG title and they’ve brought in some industry big guns to work on their new IP.

As well as securing a 200-person studio which will bring in up to 400 employees at the Leamington Spa location in the UK, they have brought in developers Sean Eyestone from EA DICE who had also worked on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes with Hideo Kojima at Konami for 10 years, chief designer Will Kennedy and combat designer Juan Fernandez di Simon from Rockstar North, having worked on GTA V.

CEO at Playground Games Gavin Raebum told GamesIndustry.biz that they’re “delighted that we’ve secured a second studio to house our new team,” and that “This is a hugely exciting project that is already attracting world-class talent to Playground.

It will be interesting to see what this new title will be, especially as it’s something very different from the studio, though as it’s in its very early stages of development, we will probably have a few years to wait.
