Post E3 Reactions: The Witcher 3

TheWitcher3-2

So there were a lot of amazing games this E3, and it was an event fit for the books! We had Sony taking the crowd by storm, Microsoft showing some great exclusives and Ubisoft/EA really surprising us again! However, one game that isn’t talked about much, but one that I am really looking forward to is, The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. The Witcher 3 follows the saga of Geralt, a badass and fearless witcher whose journey has sadly come to an end in this epic finale of his trilogy.

You know, come to think of it, The Witcher series has never been widely popular as lets say, Skyrim or any other similar rpg, however, one thing I can really say is, that in my opinion, it is THE best fantasy RPG I have ever played. The game does its story extremely well, and it is always well delivered during the gameplay. You see, The Witcher has this unusual amount of depth, that is likely crafted due to the strong sense of politics surrounding the game, and the political element is what The Witcher does really well. Even Skyrim was a bit lacking in terms of it, as most feuds seemed very cliche, but still they were outstanding in their own rights. However, The Witcher, really gave meaning to multiple playthroughs, especially in the second outing, Assassins of Kings, where one decision changes the entire second half of the game!

So fast forward to this years E3 and the last installment in The Witcher, Geralt’s trilogy is introduced for the next gen consoles. The trailer was, lightly put, absolutely beautiful as it showed different scenery and to my surprise, horseback riding! Furthermore, This time, CD Projekt Red aims to go all out with the title, and introduce many varied features. One of which as I mentioned, the horse-back riding, which is a much welcomed feature that would definitely cut time while we roamed the vast landscape open to us.

Geralt also seems to have a huge upgrade to his combat ability this time too,  especially due to the stunning motion capture work provided by the sword combat specialist, Maciej Kwiatkowski, who worked hand in hand with the developers to create a unique combat style, specially suited to the legendary Witchers.

And that, is something that would be needed a lot too, as Geralt will face the strongest of foes yet, of many different scales and sizes. It would be up to you, the players, through in-game decisions, on how the conclusion to this epic trilogy will be delivered. Whatever the choice may be, I wholeheartedly believe in CDPR and am certain that they will deliver a solid game. The Witcher 3 is coming mainly to the PC, with PS4 and Xbox one receiving a port. Lastly, huge thanks to a friend Sid, for linking these high res images to me. Also, be sure to check out the trailer that was revealed at E3 below!
