PS Plus Extra Premium Games, Release Date And More Revealed

Sony has released the first batch of games included in the PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium Tiers, as well as a release date.

Furthermore, a PlayStation Blog post has revealed the first batch of limited-time trials and the rate at which new games will be added across the revised subscription service. Details on the three-tier pricing can be found here.

Before we continue, we must keep in mind that while there are a lot of games below, there are literally 100s more to be added. After all, the top subscription tier will offer over 700 games in total across PS1, PSP, PS2, PS3, PS4 and PS5.

WHEN WILL THE NEW PS PLUS LAUNCH?

The revised PS Plus which includes the three new tiers, PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium will launch first in Asia next week on May 24^th.

It will then launch on June 2^nd in Japan and June 13^th in North and South America. Finally, it will launch on June 23^rd in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE THREE TIERS?

PS Plus Essential is PS Plus as we know it now. Nothing will change. However, the additional games will be offered with the two top tiers. PS Plus Extra will offer PS4 and PS5 games. PS Plus Premium will offer PS1, , PS2, PS3, PSP, PS4 and PS5 games.

The PS Plus Premium tier will also include a Ubisoft+ light of sorts which will offer a library of classic Ubisoft games. However, it won’t be the full Ubisoft+ as seen on PC. But it’s still cool, nonetheless.

In the meantime, introducing ‘Ubisoft+ Classics’, bringing 27 games to PlayStation Plus from May 24.

HOW WILL TRIALS WORK?

The PS Plus Premium tier will also offer time-limited trials for a selection of games. The trials will last for two hours and only count while you are playing. Progress and Trophies will also carry over.

WHEN WILL NEW GAMES BE ADDED TO PS PLUS?

For PS Plus Essential, as with the standard PS Plus, new games for PS4 and PS5 will arrive on the first Tuesday of every month.

For PS Plus Extra and Premium, as well as the new offerings every first Tuesday of the month, new games will also be added in the middle of each month. Sony has also stated that the number of “refreshed” games will vary per month.
