Report: It Looks like Battlefield V Will Be Jumping on the Battle Royale Bandwagon

According to reports from VentureBeat, in the next Battlefield game, rumoured to be called Battlefield V, DICE are apparently testing the waters for the game to feature a battle royale mode, which is yet another game set to jump on the current bandwagon trend to maximise those micro-transaction profits.

It seems that DICE are attempting to jump on this bandwagon quite late on in the development of Battlefield V, because if the game does feature a battle royale mode, it won’t be finished in-time for the games launch, so it will arrive post-launch via a free content update.  It is said however that it’s even possible that the mode might be dropped entirely as it’s so early on, but I’m sure if EA and DICE can find a way to squeeze in this mode during a reasonable time window, they will.

Personally, I don’t even play battle royale modes, but this bandwagon trend is already getting a little tiring as it seems everyone wants a piece of the pie.  However, I will at least try it out, should Battlefield V feature such a mode.

Also just this week, along with the ridiculous possibility that this year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 won’t have a singleplayer campaign (along with Modern Warfare 2 Remastered), Black Ops 4 will also have a battle royale mode.  What do you think of the current battle royale trend?  Let us know across our social media channels.
