There were some rumours circling the internet that developers Creative Assembly are working on a sequel to the fantastic Alien Isolation and with Alien Day taking place this week, it would have been the perfect time to make such an announcement.  Sadly, Eurogamer have been digging into this story and they understand that there won’t be a sequel to Alien Isolation, at least anytime soon.

According to early reports from Official PlayStation Magazine which appeared on NeoGAF it was stated that “Our sources tell us that after work is finished on Halo Wars 2,” said OPM, “a new Alien game may start development over at Alien Isolation dev Creative Assembly.

However, Eurogamer’s very own sources have claimed that the above information is not true, although Creative Assembly are currently working on their next game, which is said to be at least a couple of years away and is not a new Alien Isolation title.  Interestingly, the sources close to Eurogamer have stated that much of the Creative Assembly team that worked on the original Alien Isolation are no longer employed by the company.

This news will surely come as a disappointment to many fans, but never say never and if you’re searching for a small glimmer of hope, then way back in 2015 when speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Creative Assembly’s studio director Tim Heaton said that an “Alien: Isolation 2 is not out of the question,” and that they’re “so proud of it and there’s possibly more to be said. But do we really want to be spending very significant amounts of money, and getting close to break-even or just about in the black? That’s not where Sega wants to be, when we have a brilliant portfolio of other games that do great business.

If for whatever reason you never got to play Alien Isolation, the chances are that if you shop around, you could probably pick it up for no more than £10 and if you still need more convincing, then you can read our review of the game here.
