The Shenmue Remaster rumours are back, and this time an inside source of Rice Digital claims that a remastered collection of games will arrive this year.  Already we’ve had a whole host of rumours over the years and subtle confirmations, from Sega losing the right to trademark Shenmue, then Sega stating that they were looking to re-release the first two games, to Sega confirming the possibility of the remasters and then Sega finally trade marking the series once more.  So it’s fair to say that this news is not all that new, but hopefully it’s an indication that the remasters are slowly, but surely becoming a reality.

However, according to Rice Digital, their source claims that the remasters will release together as a bundle, rather than individually.  The news of it releasing this year, shouldn’t be a surprise, as it would make sense that Sega would release the remasters before Shenmue 3.  This again according to this source could slip into 2018.  Which to be fair, I don’t think many of us really expected Shenmue 3 to release at the end of this year anyway, as nice as that might be.

Also the source claim that it would be “safe to assume a PC/Steam release”, but while there was no mention of consoles, it’s got to be just as safe to assume that the remasters will release on PS4 and Xbox One (maybe) also.

As always, should we hear any further developments, we’ll update you right away.
