According to reports from Kotaku, Batman: Arkham Origins developer Warner Bros. Montreal have cancelled their long-rumoured development of the Suicide Squad video game and will now switch all of their focus onto a new Batman game.  The rumoured game in question will star Damian Wayne (as well as Bruce Wayne of course), the son of Batman and Talia al Ghul (the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul).  Damian Wayne is the fifth character to assume the role as Batman’s sidekick; Robin.

The source from Kotaku state that the Suicide Squad game was cancelled earlier this month following a troublesome time and was expected to be a co-op game, which had apparently been in development for at least two years.

This news will obviously come with quite a response from the community.  On one hand, the prospect of a quality Suicide Squad game is more than enough to wet just about any DC fans appetite.  But on the other hand, following the issues that persisted Batman: Arkham Origins, it might be a blessing in disguise.

However, if these rumours are to be believed and it does star Damian Wayne as at least one of the lead characters, it could make for an intriguing perspective, as long as WB Montreal can get it right.  But it’s also a shame that we might not be getting a AAA Suicide Squad game after all.
