Reports suggest that Black Ops 4 will be this year’s Call of Duty and will release on Switch
Multiple sources close to Eurogamer have apparently revealed to them that this year’s Call of Duty instalment will be Black Ops 4, which will once again be developed by Treyarch. It should come as no real surprise, considering Activision rotational policy, with Sledgehammer Games bringing CoD: WWII in 2017, Infinity Ward with Infinite Warfare in 2016 and Black Ops 3 from Treyarch releasing in 2015.
The Black Ops series is one of the most popular series in the franchise, with the Black Ops 3 online player base still high in its numbers, so this should come as a welcomed release to many fans. In previous Black Ops instalments, we’ve visited the Cold War, the near future and as far as 2065. However, it is said that Black Ops 4 will dial it back a little “to better fit the series’ recent desire for a more grounded feeling”. So could this mean we’ll return to the Cold War, the Vietnam War or perhaps something closer to present day?
COD 2018 is Black Ops 4 and is coming to PS4/Xbox/PC/Switch. It is set in the modern times and is boots on the ground. The Switch version will support DLC, HD Rumble and motion controls. The Switch version is also being ported by a company which is familar with COD games.

While this year’s Call of Duty will naturally release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, Marcus Sellars, who primarily writes about Nintendo related news for multiple outlets and proclaims himself as an “industry insider” has stated that Black Ops 4 will even release on the Nintendo Switch this year with DLC, HD Rumble and motion control support. He also suggests that the Switch version is being handled with a development company familiar with the CoD series. The last Call of Duty game to release on a Nintendo platform was CoD: Ghosts for the Wii U in 2013. Eurogamer are trying to verify the Nintendo Switch claims.
