Update 27/01/17:  Banned Footage Vol. 1 will release for PS4 from January 31st,  then for Xbox One and PC from February 21st.

Original Story 24/01/17: Resident Evil 7 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.  So naturally Capcom has released the customary launch trailer, which you can find below.  In the press release provided by Capcom, they also inform us that the first piece of story DLC will be available as early as next week.

It’s always a little disheartening to see story DLC released so early after release, as it’s easy to suspect that this DLC may have been removed from the game or at the very least developed alongside it and its likely that its finished its development in time for the release of the main game.  For me, I’m far more at ease when I know DLC is being worked on after release, much like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Releasing first on Tuesday the 31st will be the Banned Footage Vol.1 Pack, and then Vol.2 will release on February 14th (my Birthday, YAY!).  Each of the volumes will contain two “found footage tapes” that you can play through, each with their own scenarios.  Details on the season pass DLC can be found below.  There will also be a free piece of DLC for all called Not a Hero, which is said to feature a new playable lead.  Plot details are vague at this time, but we do know that Not a Hero will release this coming Spring.

DLC 1: Banned Footage Vol. 1
*Nightmare (new gameplay scenario): This will be a locked puzzle room.
*Bedroom (new gameplay scenario): A wave-based survival challenge.
*Ethan Must Die (new game mode): This is said to be a separate mode away from the main game.

DLC 2: Banned Footage Vol. 2
*21 (new gameplay scenario): This will feature an encounter with Lucas Baker.
*Daughters (new gameplay scenario): A flashback featuring the Baker family before the main game.
*Jack’s 55th Birthday (new game mode): Which is an odd sounding mode that will have you feed food to Jack Baker; I’m guessing no sausage rolls from Greggs.

DLC 3: Additional Story Episode

A new Resident Evil 7 chapter that will star a different playable lead than the main game.
