Described as a “contemporary take on the isometric platform genre”, Lumo is a puzzle platform game harking back to the 80s and 90s.

Releasing on the 22nd of April (this week), Lumo will see players solving problems throughout over 400 areas (rooms) spread across four zones.

Players will be dodging traps and enemies, swinging and jumping to platforms and over hazards, finding collectables and hidden areas, and casting spells across the curious and atmospheric depths of a mysterious castle.

The developers are describing it as a challenging game, with plenty of nods to pop culture references and icons (there’s a part in the trailer where our hero wizard snatches his hat from under a closing wall/door ala Indiana Jones).

I must say, after watching some footage of the game it certainly looks like it has potential. Rather simplistic in many respects, but with a quirky aesthetic and some interesting looking challenges.

Take a look at the trailer above and some screenshots below. If it strikes your fancy, keep an eye out for the game releasing on the 22nd on PS4, PS Vita, Xbox One, PC, Mac and Linux, and keep an eye out for a review here on PushStart.
