UPDATE:

A Warner Bros. representative has announced that Robin as a playable character in Batman: Arkham City will not be an exclusive pre-order offer from Best Buy. The Robin DLC will be available for everyone to download at some point after the games retail release in October. A specific price and date of the DLC is yet to be determined.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE:

After many rumours and speculation; the first-ever snapshot of the Boy Wonder has been revealed today, verifying that he will make an appearance in the upcoming sequel to the award-winning Batman: Arkham Asylum.

The image comes courtesy of online retailer Best Buy, who published the image of Batman’s long-running sidekick on its website, offering him as an exclusive playable character if you pre-order the game.

The Best Buy listing reads:

“While supplies last, pre-order the game for an exclusive downloadable Robin character. Robin is a fully playable character in the new and improved challenge mode in Batman: Arkham City. The Tim Drake Robin pack is available exclusively to fans who pre-order the game from Best Buy on Xbox 360, PC and PS3.

Robin comes complete with his own unique gadgets and special moves, and will be playable in all challenge maps in the game, as well as two additional challenge maps that are included with the pack: Black Mask Hideout and Freight Train Escape.

The pack will also contain a bonus Red Robin character skin.”

With this said, it seems as though that Robin will be a playable character exclusively for the challenge modes available in the game with his own gadgets and combat moves, exactly like The Joker in 2009’s Arkham Asylum. Although The Joker as a playable character was exclusively for PS3 gamers, everyone can be rest-assured that Robin will be available on all platforms (PS3, 360, and PC).

It is however undetermined at the moment as to whether Robin will be available as a separate download later after the games initial release in October, instead of being strictly a pre-order bonus through Best Buy. But we will deliver updates as they arrive here at Push-Start.
