Rumour: Could we see a Dino Crisis revival?

Dino Crisis in the 90’s/early 2000’s may have been living in the shadow of the Resident Evil series, but that’s not to see that its blend of Resi Evil-style survival horror and Jurassic Park wasn’t a hit, because it most certainly was and generated a cult following.  Though the less we speak about the third game, the better.

In fact (and I’m mentioning it again), we haven’t seen a new Dino Crisis entry since the 3rd instalment in 2003 for the original Xbox.  However, there may be a small glimmer of hope in the horizon, as during an interview with Resident Evil 7 producer Masachika Kawata (who also worked on the first Dino Crisis in 1999), he was quizzed about the series and stated that with what the new RE Engine has to offer, it “would be a really exciting prospect.”  Even though he said that “there’s not currently any conversations happening [at Capcom]”, Kawata hopes that one day Capcom will capitalise on the current technology that the studio has at their disposal.

It’s only a small glimmer of hope, but with Capcom’s recent remasters, Resident Evil 7 and a Resident Evil 2 remake on the cards, you never know.  Also, in December 2015, Capcom registered the Onimusha franchise, giving hope that this much loved franchise might also be in for a revival.  Watch this space.
