RPG fans will be well aware of Deep Silver, the studio behind the Dead Island series, Sacred 2 and Saint’s Row IV. Well Deep Silver has announced the next instalment of the Sacred franchise – Sacred 3. Head back into the world of Ancaria, where once again you can band together to save the world from the evil forces that looks to consume it. The game will be released on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC during Summer this year.

Sacred 3 features an offline/online, “seamless” co-op experience. In offline mode you can have 2 player co-op, while online allows you to have a party with up to 4 members to help you destroy your enemies. Returning characters include the Ancarian, Khukuhru, Safiri and the legendary Seraphim, along with a new character – Malakhim. As always, each class has its own abilities and a unique set of skills that you can upgrade so it’s more suited to your personal play-style.

The hack-n-slash action themed combat will pit players against enemy hordes where you can try and become the greatest hero of all. The co-op mode seems to be an area which has had a lot of work judging by the statement from the Deep Silver brand manager, Remy van Leeuwen who states:
The paramount development goal for Sacred 3 has been to create a seamless online and offline co-op experience. By creating a game built around the central concept of co-op gameplay, we’re expanding the series to new audiences without compromising the rich lore and fantasy of the Sacred universe.

Mission stats and online leaderboards will also be included through the game to increase the competition even more in both local and online co-op mode. The seamlessness of a co-op experience where people can just drop in and out will be an interesting one and one that I am looking forward to seeing if it’s implemented well.
