Thanks to a report from Mashable, Telltale Games CEO Kevin Bruner confirmed that season three of The Walking Dead will release later this year, though no exact release date was given.  He did however elaborate on how your ending in season two, might affect how season three plays out.

Now the great thing about Telltale Games…games…. are that they tailor to the choices that you make and depending on the choices you made in season two (and one), you could have a different story to tell in season three then another player.  Season three will take ‘your’ ending into account.

Bruner said “The way that we’re dealing with and validating and retaining all those different playthrough’s is really cool and unexpected and, I think, pretty innovative from the storytelling point of view,“.  He added “From a role-playing, interactive storytelling point of view, it is not from the bag of tricks that we’ve ever shown anybody before,” and that, “noting that cloud saves would be used to take previous player choices into account. “We’re going to have a solution for everybody that we’re not talking about it yet.

He also pointed out that season three will accommodate new players into the series and while it obviously won’t be tailored to you taking into account the first two seasons, it will get you up-to-speed with the traditional “previously on” clips.  Though I couldn’t recommend playing through the first two seasons enough, especially the original season.
