It’s been a while since we last saw any gameplay for the Silent Hill 2 remake or had an official update from the developer Bloober Team or publisher Konami since its initial reveal.

The Silent Hill 2 remake was announced back in October 2022, and while it’s never had a solid release date, I think it’s fair to say that at the very least, we would have been treated to new gameplay or even that elusive release date. This in turn has resulted in some fans being concerned over its development.

On 21 November, Twitter user SodaRMT asked Bloober Team: “When could we expect to get some news on the remake, or is that up to Konami? It’s kinda hard to be stuck in the fog for over a year with nothing new, even some screenshots would be nice.” To which Bloober Team answered quite abruptly: “Konami is the publisher of the game and communication is definitely part of their job.”

Perhaps not doing itself any favours in terms of public perception, Bloober Team has now responded in an official manner with a statement, which is far more PR friendly, let’s say.

“As Bloober Team, we are proud to be a part of Konami’s plans for the Silent Hill franchise. Alongside our partner, we are diligently working to ensure the Silent Hill 2 remake attains the highest quality,” the developer wrote in a statement issued on Twitter. Bloober Team went on to ask fans for patience, that development is going smoothly and implied that Konami will share details in the future when ready, which is quite obvious.

I think it’s fair to say that I am not the only one who is a little concerned about whether or not Bloober Team can do this iconic game the justice it requires with the remake. As a fan who loves this series, I really hope that I’m proven wrong.

At this time, Silent Hill 2 remake does not have a release date, but it will be released on PC and PlayStation 5 first, before arriving on Xbox Series X|S at a later date.
