One of the most iconic and feared horror antagonists in video game history known as Pyramid Head from the beloved Silent Hill franchise is coming back!  Unfortunately, if you’ve been angered by the actions of Konami in recent years for the treatment of Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid, the chances are, this news might just infuriate you even more.

Earlier in the year I reviewed Metal Gear Survive, a spin-off to the popular series that would see you scavenge for resources, explore a big (and quite empty world) and fight off hordes of dumb zombie things.  Yet, despite the game annoying me somewhat by living off the name of one of my most favourite video games of all-time, in truth, Metal Gear Survive wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.  Granted, I’ve had no desire to play it since, but hey, there are far worse games out there.

However, this latest cross-over Konami event for Metal Gear Survive just kicks me in the teeth as its combination taunts me of how Konami are wasting both the Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill franchises.  Named “The Research Story (Special Edition)”, the event was announced on the official Metal Gear Solid Facebook pages, and it will also feature items based upon Castlevania.

Basically how this event will work, is that as long as you collect enough Battle Points (BP) during the event, you will be able to unlock a Pyramid Head hat for your in-game character, as well as cassette tapes that allows you to play in-game theme music from Silent Hill, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (Divine Bloodlines and Beginning), and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (The Tragic Prince).

The Research Event (Special Edition) will run from tomorrow on October 23rd 10am BST/9am GMT and will end on November 6th 06:59 BST/05:59 GMT.   Are you looking forward to this event or perhaps you don’t even care?  Let us know your thoughts across our social media channels.
