Slash And Loot In Any Region With Diablo III’s Global Play

Blizzard have introduced ‘Global Play’ in Diablo III, which will allow you to play online in any region…with a few catches.

Worried that you won’t be able to kill, loot, plan, argue and generally have good times with your friends overseas in Diablo III? Well you can relax as Blizzard have included a feature called ‘Global Play’ that allows you and your Diablo III partners in crime to do just that, meaning that the Diablo III servers, which are split up into three regions – America (which includes Australia and New Zealand funnily enough), Asia and Europe – are not region locked.

But if you want to enjoy Diablo III‘s Global Play, there are rules.

Each Region  requires you to have  separate characters. So a character made in Europe can’t be used in Asia or America and vice versa. Also you’ll need to recreate your friends list in a different region and real-word money auctions are a no-go.

It reminds me of the co-op limitations Dungeon Siege III had, so perhaps it would be best to try and make friends in your home region. But at least the option is there.

Diablo III will be released on Windows PC and Apple Mac on May 15th 2012.
