It’s safe to assume that the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic may be in the dreaded developmental hell.

Announced during a PlayStation Showcase event in 2021, the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake was originally developed by Asyr before the reigns were handed over to Saber Interactive the following year.

At this point, we’ve not seen any gameplay or even had a release date, which reading between the lines, might be the best for now. After all, when this remake eventually releases, we’d love it to be nothing but near perfection at least. I know that’s a high bar to set but we all talking about a remake for an all-time great. I’d say the same for the Silent Hill 2 remake from Bloober Team.

Before this week, the most recent update for the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is that it might be further away than what we may have thought. Now, as reported by IGN, Saber Interactive CEO, Matthew Karch, when talking about the remake, said: “It’s clear, and it’s obvious that we’re working on this. It’s been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we’re dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations.”

It might be wishful thinking to hope that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic will be released in 2025 for PC and PlayStation 5, but you never know.
