Well, these rumours have been floating around for years now, but it seems that we’ve got our strongest indication that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is coming back, if the most recent of rumours are to be believed.

According to alleged sources from Cinelinx.com, they claim that they have two sources that confirm that a new Knights of the Old Republic is currently in development by Electronic Arts, the sources say that it’s not quite a remake, but a “sequel” of sorts and that the game would link into the first two games from BioWare and Obsidian Entertainment.  They also state that it’s not quite a remake, but a “re-imagining.

So perhaps reading between the lines, maybe this rumoured game would still feature the pausable, real-time combat and other elements that made the original two so popular, but with a more fluid combat system to make gameplay feel a lot less dated, and rather than calling it KOTOR3, it will carry the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic name without the number, but with a sub-name.

At this time, Cinelinx have no further information to go by, but being a fan of this series, I will keep close tabs on this story and I will update you once I hear more.  However in the meantime, let us know if you think this 3rd instalment will happen across our social media channels? (not including the MMORPG that released for PC in 2011).
