On the back of the PC version’s success, Green Lava Studios have announced that Fenix Rage will be heading to the PS Vita in early 2015. The anger-inducing platformer was launched last month (September) and has received a 100% Steam customer rating, to date.

The release for the PS Vita coincides with the game’s release on PS4 and Xbox One and, although a date has yet to be confirmed, it is expected to be released early next year. Lead programmer and founder of Green Lava Studios Eduardo Ramirez said:

We’ve always been big fans of the PlayStation Vita as a platform and after reading several requests from people who wanted to play Fenix Rage on-the-go, we’re pretty excited to be able to bring our first game to it. But for those who have been following or have played the PC version, don’t worry – the Vita version of Fenix Rage will have new challenges and features that will be worth going through the rage again and again.

With some of the negativity which has surrounded the PS Vita in recent months with the lack of announcements, it’s great to hear that a successful indie title will be heading to Sony’s handheld. Hopefully it will encourage more players to pick it up, especially with the added content. My main concern with the announcement is how well it will control on the PS Vita as Fenix Rage requires pinpoint accuracy and the small thumbsticks may not offer as solid control as the controller versions do. Regardless of what may or may not happen the game is a great platformer, as I found out last month.
