Boy, has today been a pretty hectic day. First we get a release date announcement trailer for Watchdogs, which by the way is totally amazing, so go over to Richard’s article to check it out. Then the release date for Dark Souls II on PC got announced. So, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that today was an interesting day. However, for now, just kick back and relax with these gorgeous new screenshots, courtesy of Ubisoft, for their upcoming game, The Division.

As you can see in this image, it shows the tunnel marked with a UI element. I believe this is the advice menu for different levels, which will tell you what requirements you need to meet if you ever plan on completing a particular section alive or even partaking on it. Some (like this) will probably only be playable in multiplayer, while some can be accessed individually.

In this image, you can see that the combat will not only be limited to the streets, but will possibly dynamically happen everywhere. It will make for a nice variety as you will have to keep your eye open for threats everywhere. Great smoke effects and destruction detail can be spotted in this image.

Good scene that kind of sums up the lightning levels afforded by the game, as you can see the light from the sun gleaming and reflecting off objects like the cars and the ground. It is very soft in my opinion, and nicely mixes up with the overall ambiance to fill up the screen.

As you can see in this image below, a lot of people tried to leave the devastated city, presumably during the outbreak. However, the cars littered around seem to indicate that they didn’t make it far and either went on foot the rest of the way, or were trapped by their fates.

One interesting thing I can notice in this image is that there cars are even going towards the city. Could it be, that the outbreak happened quietly, but swiftly? Like they had no idea until it was too late? Or, are those just people trying to reach their loved ones, in order to save them?

Lastly, it also kind of shows the scope of the open world, just how big it will truly be. Judging from the image above, the city seems to be quite far away from the camera position, and yet it doesn’t completely fit in this wide image. So, it is looking pretty big at the moment!

So that was it for my image dissection, but so far things are looking pretty good and I hope we hear more from the game itself soon. A release date and year has not been properly set yet, but it will be coming to the PC and the next gen consoles. Lastly, here is a little extra GIF that was taken from the hectic new Watchdogs story trailer.
