Take a lesson in Egyptian history as Assassin’s Creed Origins Free Discovery Tour is now live

The free update for Assassin’s Creed Origins is now live, which will add the history lesson providing Discovery Tour to your game, the update also adds New Game Plus.  In The Discover Tour, you’ll be able to explore ancient Egypt enemy and time constraint free as you learn about the period’s historic figures, landmarks and moments.  Across Alexandria, Memphis, the Giza plateau and more, there will be a total of 75 differently themed tours for you to explore all advised by history experts and Egyptologists that worked in collaboration with Ubisoft’s creative teams.

The Discovery Tour is free to all those that own Assassin’s Creed Origins, however, if you do not own the game, you can download The Discovery Tour as a standalone via PC Uplay and Steam for £15.99.  Ubisoft’s “in-house historian” at Ubisoft Montreal, Maxime Durand had this to say on the intriguing Discovery Tour mode:

We’ve been in touch with teachers from the very first installment of Assassin’s Creed games. Many of them already used the games during their History classes but soon came to realise that what they needed was an easily accessible educative tool based in our historical reconstructions,” explains Maxime Durand, in-house Historian at Ubisoft Montreal. “With the Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed: Ancient Egypt, you can visualise and understand thousands of things from Egyptian history in their actual context. As both a game and a learning tool, it is quite a unique asset for teachers to integrate as part of their history classes.

In addition, the New Game Plus is now live for Assassin’s Creed Origins, which will carry over your player level, XP, weapons, abilities, inventory and crafted items into a new playthrough.  However, the map will be refreshed from scratch, so you’ll have to re-discover locations, quests, targets and more with the map now being recovered in fog.  Upon starting a New Game Plus, it will also take the difficulty up a notch, so for example, if you finished the game on Normal difficulty and started the New Game Plus with all your goodies carrying over, you will now be playing the game on Hard difficulty and so forth.
