Hideo Kojima took to the stage at the Tokyo Game Show to reveal some details on his first game away from Konami, Death Stranding which is first announced at E3 this year.  While details were still very vague and while we did not see any gameplay, Kojima stated that Death Stranding will be an open-world action game with online components.

Rather than having players fight against one another during online play, he stated that he wanted players to connect “by a rope or a strand element.”  Whether this means it will be more teamwork orientated or a player’s decisions will have an impact on others, remains to be seen.  However, as we can expect from Kojima, Death Stranding have a key focus on story elements and will offer the player a degree of freedom and choice.

He also confirmed that the game will support 4K and HDR.  Before leaving the stage, Kojima said that he wants to prove that an indie studio can create a “triple-A, world class” masterpiece.  Which to be honest, there are many indie games that some would already consider to be a masterpiece, without the giant support of a company such as Sony.

Death Stranding is expected to release for PC and PS4 next year.
