The Largest Free Batch of Content is Live Now for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

The largest batch of free content is now available for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.  The free content includes a re-imagined map from the original Modern Warfare with Crash to be played in the more traditional multiplayer modes.  Then a little later on in this season one of content, we’ll also be getting two more re-imagined maps from the original MW, Vacant and Shipment.  In the season one of content, we also get a new 2v2 Gunfight map called Atrium, and Shipment will also be coming to this mode a later on too.  Ground War is also getting a free map called Port.

However, that is not all, because Classic Special Ops Experiences are available, as well as additions to be added at a later date, not to mention new Special Ops Operations and new multiplayer modes with Reinforce, O.S.P Gunfight and Infected.  Details on these various modes can be found below, as well as further information on the two new weapons.

 

Classic Special Ops Experiences: In Pitch Black, infil into Barkov’s vacant estate to recover and transmit all on-site Intel to your tactical rover. In Grounded, engage and eliminate Al Qatala militants who have seized Barkov’s former airbase to steal weaponry and air assets. Bomb Squad will arrive further into Season One, where Armistice Team 4 QRF must defuse IEDs planted in an Urzikstan city before detonation.

New Special Ops Operations: In Operation Strongbox, use the crypto keys you’ve stolen to assault the bank, break into the vault, and put The Banker out of business.  In Operation Just Reward, coming to all players later in the season, cut off Al Qatala’s money supply in Verdansk and target the head of their financial operation by hacking the Banker’s mobile data centres.

New Multiplayer Game Modes: In Reinforce, a hybrid mode between Domination, Search & Destroy, and Search & Rescue, capture points to revive fallen teammates and take all points to win the round. Further into Season One, additional modes will go live including Infected, where it’s hunt or be hunted in the survival party game mode where eliminated survivors become infected. In O.S.P. Gunfight, the same mechanics of traditional Gunfight apply, with the distinct difference that players begin each match with no weapons or equipment and must pick them up once the match begins.

New Weapons: Earnable for free for all players, the RAM-7 introduces a new fully automatic bullpup Assault Rifle, while the Holger-26 is an LMG spec of the Holger model rifle.

 

Along with this season one of free content is the Battle Pass, which will unlock up-to 100 tiers of “earnable” content and you can also skip 20 tiers to gain instant access to new equipment.  From what I can tell, the Battle Pass will make unlocking loot a little less of a grind, but even if you don’t buy the Battle Pass, much of the content is earnable without spending a penny.  Now I’m sure the free grind will be excessive, but if that means free maps and modes, then that’s fine in my book.  Also, the Battle Pass can be purchased via 1,000 CoD Points, but it is possible to earn more CoD Points then you spent on the Battle Pass to begin with, so it is possible to reclaim your spent funds and then some.

The season one of free content will release on a weekly basis with much of it being available right now across all platforms.  Some of the items will be purchasable via the in-game store using your CoD Points, so if you see something you fancy, you can buy it, which is better than randomised loot boxes in my opinion.
