The Sims are back……again
I was talking to my friend today on skype, and they asked me if I played the Sims. And I said, Yeah, Sims 2, back when it was good and fun to play. Well, she gave me some shocking news. There is a NEW Sims game coming out. That’s right, not a lame expansion pack, a whole new game.
The Sims: Medieval is it’s title and it puts all you know about sims and kinda combines it with good games like Dragon Age. And before someone says “The Sims is crap and Dragon Age is way better” I didn’t say The Sims was as good. As with the other titles in the series, you get to create a Sim and make them live in their own little world. Well, this time it’s in the Middle-Ages. Great choice of scenario there!
On top of this they have added three new features: Heroes, Quests and Kingdom Building. Well, Kingdom Building is pretty self explanatory, and Quests just sees players, and this is their words not mine, “Drive your kingdom forwards” with a suggestion of Fable and Mass Effect style karma system. Heroes just seems to be a development of what you could do with your Sims before, and just make them better at certain tasks, though it includes fighting and other skills required for quests i’d assume. They aren’t too clear.
On top of those, which they seem to be major new features, they have also added a few others just incase they aren’t enough. These include an Achievement System which rewards you for certain tasks, a Diplomatic System which lets you sign treaties, conduct trade or even declare war on neighbouring kingdoms. Another one I felt the need to mention is the Crafting System. This means you can create your own weapons and medicines. That’s pretty cool I guess. They have also made improvements to the graphics in the game, which are shown in the screenshots below.
The one problem I see with this title is the fact that it is a Sims game, and in all honesty, they pretty much suck at the moment. We’ll just have to see if this game pulls them out of this rubbish rut they are in when the game launches on 22nd of March in the states.
