The Witcher 3 Trophies and Achievements won’t cross over when transferring a save for the upcoming next-gen update.

Following the epic 30-minute The Witcher 3 next-gen update earlier in November 2022, amongst the improvements and new features, we also learned that we will be able to transfer our save from the last-gen version.

So many fans wondered whether new Trophies and Achievements will pop up when a save is transferred. Sadly, as with Cyberpunk 2077, that will not be the case. The news was confirmed by CD Projekt Red’s global community manager, Marcin Momot.

Seeing a lot of questions about this one. Achievements are platform-specific, meaning they don’t carry over when transferring your save between platforms. They will have to be unlocked again,” tweeted Momot.

It seems the issue will occur when transferring save data from one platform to another such as PC to PlayStation or Xbox to PlayStation, for example. Likewise, Trophies won’t even pop from PS4 to PS5. I would imagine that PC won’t have that issue nor will Xbox One to Series X|S.

The Witcher 3 next-gen update on PC will be delivered via a simple update, so you’re essentially playing the same game but with improvements. It should be a similar case with Xbox, thanks to Smart Delivery. However, the PS5 version will require a new download via the PS Store.

The Witcher 3 next-gen update arrives next month on December 14th, 2022 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
