This Football Game Based Upon Popular Manga Series is Something Else!

Straight-up, I’ve never heard of the Manga series Captain Tsubasa, even though it’s been around since the 1980’s in its original form, simply because, I’m not all that into Manga at this time.  However, upon returning home from watching my favourite football team late in the evening, I stumbled across this newly released trailer when checking out what’s new on YouTube and it certainly caught my attention.

First-up, if like me you’re used to PES and FIFA, wipe away any sense of realism before watching this trailer, because it will probably be the most unrealistic and over-the-top trailer you’ll ever watch for a football videogame, which is exactly why it has me intrigued.

As already established, Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions is unlike anything that I’ve seen and it aims to bring something new to the sports genre and judging by this announcement trailer, I’m inclined to agree.

According to the official press release, Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions is said to bring “a refreshing look to the football genre with the exhilarating action and over the top shots that made the license famous” and to add further “features anime-like graphics and accessible gameplay, while offering multiple game modes to keep the football fan on the pitch and off the bench!

Hervé Hoerdt, Senior VP Marketing, Digital & Content at Bandai Namco said that “Securing the Captain Tsubasa license to bring a football game to the western market is a dream come true.” And added “Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions isn’t created just for the fans of the manga, but will be enjoyed by football fans all over the world!
