Developer Spearhead Games have announced a release date for their new murder-mystery (action adventure) game.

Those familiar with Spearhead Games will remember the company’s previous time bending action game Stories: The Path of Destinies (which I reviewed here), and at first glance Omensight seems to be following suit with that.

“When the world of Urralia nears its end, that’s when your work as The Harbinger begins. Take on the impartial, and crucial, role of both warrior and judge to rewrite the destruction of your war-sieged world by identifying characters that may have played a part in the apocalypse. By understanding the events that pushed Urralia to its tragic end, you can manipulate time and circumstance to prevent the catastrophe.”

Along with the announcement comes a gameplay video explaining some of the game’s core features.

The game allows you, much like Stories: The Path of Destinies, to explore a particular time period multiple times.

As you do so you can spend time with different characters and see how events on that particular day unfold for them, thus revealing more to you about the story.

I quite enjoyed this mechanic in Stories, with an expansive tree of events unlocking as you explored different paths, however one criticism I had was that this quickly became repetitive.

The gameplay video shows off some combat and platforming, and suggests that the narrative exploration mechanics and combat will be a bit more expansive, though that obviously waits to be seen.

It’s certainly an interesting concept, and I think the developers nearly hit the nail on the head with their previous attempt, so I will be eagerly awaiting to try this new adventure.

The game will release on PC and PS4 on the 15th of May.
