Released on Early Access back in March (and briefly covered here on PushStart), the sea-fairing turn based RPG Overfall is just about ready to officially launch, with a release date set for the 17th of this month.

Set in an archipelago world (lots of islands in the ocean), you and your crew are on a quest to find a hidden citadel before the enemy (the Vorn) does.

In order to do this you will need to gain the support of the various races that inhabit the islands of Overfall, and will use a mixture of diplomacy and violence to do so. You’ll sail around, meeting new races, gaining companions for your journey, and completing quests that change with each playthrough.

There will be choices to make in quests, some of which differ depending on the companions you have. You may end up solving disputes peacefully, but if you don’t, there’s some turn based combat to get stuck into – grid based, utilising abilities and companion skill (looks like fairly standard stuff).

In addition to this, players will be able to test their own creativity with a level editor. Pera Games and Chris Avellone (Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment, Fallout: New Vegas) have even created a writing guide for those who really want to get stuck in (take a look at that here).

The game launches on Windows, Mac, and Linux on the 17th, so if it sounds like your thing there’s not too long to wait. Hopefully we’ll have a review up for you around that time as well.
