Some good news for Warhorse Studios, makers of medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance, as the company marches on to more success. THQ Nordic/Koch Media have announced the purchase of the studio along with its IP rights.

The acquisition brings opportunities to the Prague based developer, and it seems there is excitement on both sides for this, with CEO of Warhorse saying “Becoming part of THQ Nordic family is an important milestone for our studio. We believe that backing by THQ Nordic and Koch Media will give us an extra push in our mission to bring exciting games to our customers and extend the frontiers of the gaming industry”, and CEO of Koch Media adding “We are delighted to welcome the team from Warhorse Studios in the Family. The successful cooperation we developed during our journey with Kingdom Come: Deliverance linked both our companies already very closely and I am sure that our now even closer combined knowledge and experience will open up amazing new opportunities for both companies.”

Alongside the announcement the company published some statistics boasting of the game and studio’s achievements. Having review the game and its multiple DLC instalments (Band of Bastards review currently in progress, just FYI) it’s encouraging to see that, despite its particular issues and a certain barrier of entry, the game has been so successful.

Achievements include a cool 2 million copies sold across all platforms, and over 30 media, show and sales awards around the globe. It’s good to see such a unique and genuine game like this do as well as it is. There’s a few more stats that they shared via a graphic, as below. Hopefully this acquisition will lead to more grand projects from Warhorse Studios.
