Right now Square Enix’s Deus Ex Human Revolution is going cheap everywhere, and if you haven’t already picked this game up and are maybe put off by the cheap price. Then FEAR NOT, as this game is one of 2011’s best. Here are 5 reasons why:

  • Your game – There are a lot of games out there on the market that say you can play the way you want to, and more often than not this isn’t entirely the case, however with Human Revolution this is true and is arguably its biggest achievement. With each mission you are given, there are so many ways to go about completing your objective. Do you sneak around unnoticed, do you take guards out from a distance, or alternately do you go in all guns blazing. It’s your choice and you’re rewarded for your type of play style with XP that can be used to purchase augmentations. Which leads me to the next point
  • Augmentations – However you wish to play the game, you can customise Adam Jenson to your gameplay style with augmentations. These let you purchase upgrades like the ability to have a cloak, or increasing your max health. There is so much flexibility with the way you want to customise Jenson, that the game practically begs to be played again over and over.
  • Presentation Human Revolution has an amazing art direction, add to that the incredible soundtrack, and it’s one of the best presented games I’ve seen in a long time. Why does this matter you ask, simple, it draws you into the world that much more. For any science fiction fan, you will instantly fall in love with the world that has been created and the fiction behind it. This is helped so much more with the futuristic soundtrack that captures the world beautifully. To describe the world in one word: Stunning
  • Adam Jenson – This is the main character you play and I really could personally attach to Jenson and feel what he was going through. This is something that a lot of games miss nowadays as they’re more worried about getting the gameplay right. Human Revolution proves why it is important, you want to get to the end just as much as he does. There are two moments in the game where you really feel his emotions play out and you instantly connect to why he is doing what he is.
  • Story – The narrative in the game is fantastic. Every defining moment in the story compels you to drive forward and to see what’s goning to happen next. There are some twists and turns in the later stages and although the ending is quite weak, the three that you have to choose from are all meaningful and might not be too far off from our own future. In the end, this is something that you should experience for yourself, you will not regret it.

Deus Ex Human Revolution is currently out on PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and can be purchased for under £10. It has also been released on Mac as of last month but costs around the £30 mark.
